Derive one metric
Identify a single metric that directly measures the use case above. One metric, not a dashboard of related figures.
Assign a metric owner
Assign one person accountable for this metric. This person also owns any action that results from the KPI shifting.
Write the definition
Document the formula, timeframe, filters, and exclusions. This is the same detail required for an AI context file or a rigorous analysis.
Trace to events
List every event this definition depends on. Use exact event names, as they appear in the product.
Assign technical owners
Assign one technical owner, name and role/team, to every event. This is who gets contacted when it stops firing correctly.
